Secretary Blinken gets grilled by Senators at hearing today

Posted by katiefitzpatrick on September 14, 2021 in Featured, National News | Leave a response

Usually, the Senate is stoic and solemn when debating and deliberating over issues. Today was a different day. The United States Senators seemed like sharks who had their first sniff of blood during the Blinken hearing.

Secretary Blinken had to answer some tough questions about Afghanistan and the Biden administration making the decision to withdraw. Senator Cruz, Senator Rubio, and Senator Paul seemed especially angry and let Blinken know how the American people felt about this decision. There were Democrats who voiced their displeasure as well.

Sen. @RandPaul: "The guy the Biden administration droned: was he an aid worker or an ISIS-K operative?"

Sec. Blinken: "I don't know because we're reviewing it."

Sen. Paul: "You'd think you'd kind of know before you off somebody with a predator drone." pic.twitter.com/kGWSuTySho

SEN. RISCH: "Somebody in the White House has authority to press the button and stop the […] president’s speaking ability. Who is that person?”

SEC. BLINKEN: “I think anyone who knows the president…knows that he speaks very clearly and very deliberately for himself." pic.twitter.com/fnfNUkj3Bv
