Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft and Missouri judge Jon Beetem have been in a battle, so to speak, over the language of the abortion amendment. Ashcroft proposed language that was blunt, but not untruthful. The judge called it “obscured the intention of the amendment to protect abortion rights and other rights related to reproduction.”
