White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment Friday on recent comments made by CNN’s Don Lemon regarding women but said the subject should be addressed by the appropriate parties.

Lemon, responding to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley‘s calls for competency tests for older politicians, said on-air Thursday that “Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry.” Haley is a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

“When a woman is considered to be in her prime [is] in her 20s, and 30s, and maybe 40s,” he said, earning stark rebukes from his female co-hosts. Lemon later apologized and did not appear on Friday’s broadcast.
