Abuse Accusations Rock Missouri’s Race For US Senate

Posted by kljy-hd3 on March 22, 2022 in Featured, Local News | Leave a response

Written by Mike Ferguson, Host of The Mike Ferguson in the Morning Show

Eric Greitens’ campaign for US Senate is now mired in accusations that he physically abused his wife and children.

The former governor’s second ex-wife, Sheena Greitens, makes those allegations in a sworn affidavit filed in the court overseeing their child custody case. The claims in the affidavit quickly made national news.

Among the accusations made by Sheena Greitens: “…[his] behavior included physical violence toward our children, such as cuffing our then-3-year-old son across the face at the dinner table in front of me and yanking him around by his hair” and saying that at one point he “…knocked me down and confiscated my cell phone, wallet, and keys so that I was unable to call for help or extricate myself and our children.”

Greitens, of course, is no stranger to the national spotlight after resigning from office less than halfway through his term as Governor. His resignation was part of a deal to avoid a felony charge connected to an affair he had before winning the election in 2016. Greitens admits to the affair but denies the accusation that he tied up his mistress against her will, took photos of her, and blackmailed her in order to keep the affair secret. While a Republican-led state legislative committee found the allegations “credible”, charges were never filed against him connected to those claims.

The former Republican governor denies abusing his ex-wife and children. He and his campaign responded by claiming she has “…a documented history of mental illness and emotionally abusive behavior.” As of the time of this writing, no evidence has been shown to back up that assertion.

On Monday, Greitens was a guest on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” show on Real America’s Voice television. On the program, he offered a possible conspiracy and “political operatives” as an explanation for the abuse allegations, saying “You’re going to be able to connect the dots directly to [Republican US Senator] Mitch McConnell. You’re going to be able to connect the dots directly to the RINO [Republican In Name Only] swamp who always does this. This is their game: they work to push out false allegations. They who that the mainstream media will follow them and they attack America first conservatives.”
