President Biden Did Everything Exactly Wrong — And Peter Doocy Did Everything Exactly Right

Posted by katiefitzpatrick on January 26, 2022 in Featured, National News | Leave a response

Written by Virginia Kruta, columnist at The Daily Wire

President Joe Biden created yet another self-inflicted wound Monday when he lashed out at Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy. At an event where he was supposedly addressing the economy and the middle class, Doocy asked a question about whether or not inflation was going to be a liability going into the midterms — just ten months away.

Biden’s sarcastic response: “it’s a huge asset, more inflation. What a stupid son of a bitch.”

While the answer to the question is obvious — inflation is always a liability — Biden should have used the opportunity to connect with the people. “I know you all are feeling the pinch of inflation, so here’s how my administration plans to make things better between now and November.”

Instead, he allowed himself to get rattled and created another news story in which he was the villain, just days after his press conference that required a full-scale multiple-day cleanup.

As for Peter Doocy, well, within the hour he was on “The Five” joking about the exchange.

Jesse Watters: “I think the President was right, you are a stupid son of a bitch.”

Doocy (laughs): “Well, no one has fact-checked him yet and said he was wrong.”

Biden later called Doocy to “clear the air,” and although he didn’t exactly say the words “I’m sorry,” the call alone is a tacit admission of wrongdoing. But Doocy’s response to the call was spot on as well. He said that he planned to keep asking the tough questions, adding, “I don’t need anyone to apologize to me.”

And at the end of the day, the optics are stunning: the President looks flappable and flustered rather than capable and strong — and the young upstart White House reporter comes out the winner without ever throwing a punch.
