AG Schmitt issues temporary restraining order, stops St Louis county mask mandate

Posted by katiefitzpatrick on August 3, 2021 in Local News | Leave a response

Opinion by Tim Jones

Today, the Circuit Court of the County of St. Louis issued a temporary restraining order in favor of the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, led by AG Eric Schmitt, against the Covid tyranny of County Executive Sam Page.

This is only the first small step towards overturning Page’s unlawful and unconstitutional order but a significant one. To grant a TRO, a Court must find that the aggrieved party, here the citizens of the County of St. Louis, are under imminent threat of irreparable harm.

In this specific instance, Judge Ribaudo also found that the County Council DOES have the authority to terminate the County’s health order. The next step in the process will be a hearing for a preliminary injunction which has been set for August 17, 2021.
