The shocking news out of Utah on Wednesday afternoon of a shooting at a TPUSA event on the campus of Utah Valley University turned horrifically grim as we learned that the organization’s founder, 31-year-old Charlie Kirk, had succumbed to his wounds and died.
Shortly after news of the shooting emerged, President Donald Trump and numerous Cabinet officials called for prayer for Kirk and his family. Sadly, not long after, President Trump shared the heartbreaking news that Charlie had passed.
Now, the president has ordered all American flags in the U.S. to be flown at half-staff until Sunday evening.
In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.
Following that announcement on Truth Social, the White House put out the following statement:
A PROCLAMATION
As a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, September 14, 2025. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.
