Where Are the Gas Chambers?

Vic Porcelli, Redstate

“Trump is Hitler.” “The Republican Party are Nazis.” “ICE is the Gestapo.”

We hear these cries almost nonstop. Beyond the fact that none of those claims is remotely true, they’re also horrendous and deeply insensitive accusations.

If you don’t like a president or candidate, talk policy — not imagined comparisons to one of history’s darkest chapters. President Trump can handle the insults. That’s not what worries me.

What worries me are the relatives and descendants of the victims of Hitler and Nazi Germany — six million Jews who were systematically murdered. Nazis rounded up Jews in 21 countries, loaded them onto trucks and trains, and sent them to concentration camps.

The Camps: Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Dachau, Mauthausen, Ravensbrück, Sachsenhausen, Flossenbürg, Neuengamme, Bergen-Belsen — places that became synonymous with horror.

The Death Camps: Auschwitz-Birkenau, Treblinka, Bełżec, Sobibór, Chełmno, Majdanek — where millions were murdered in gas chambers, by firing squads, or through starvation, disease, and forced labor.

When the trains arrived at the camps, there was selection: who was selected to die immediately and who would live…for now. The people selected for extermination were told they were heading to showers. They were gas chambers. People of all ages. Men, women, and children. Twins were brought to Dr. Joseph Mengele for experiments. All people whose only crime was that they were Jews.

Some didn’t even make it to the camps. Some were lined up and shot.

Some of them were lawyers, doctors, judges, or athletes. It didn’t matter. If they were Jewish, they would die. No one protested for them. No one would call for the release of the prisoners. A vast majority of the world didn’t know it was happening.

That was fascism. That was Nazism. That was Hitler.

Back to the present: None of that is happening now. None of it.

Liberals have a habit of overplaying their hand. If you’re playing poker and an opponent bets a ton of chips, they are probably bluffing.

There’s a dichotomy here. The Left either doesn’t do their research before they speak, or they are just flat out lying. Neither is ok.

Jews hear all these comparisons to the Holocaust, and they are deeply affected and offended by the ridiculousness of the current claims of the Left. Some may be survivors with their numbers tattooed on their arms.

Illegal aliens are committing crimes. They are in this country illegally. Some, of course, are violent criminals. There is a legal way into America. Come through a port of entry, go through the proper channels, and you can enter. If you are here illegally, you’ll get sent back to your country of origin.

See the difference?

The Jews of the Holocaust were not sent back to their countries. They were executed.

So when people say today’s leaders are revisiting that terrible part of world history, ask them — Where are the gas chambers? Where are the firing squads?

Immigration laws are laws. Comparing them to genocide is wrong. The Jews of Europe committed no crimes. They were innocent people living their lives, going to work, and loving their children. They lived legally in the countries they were in.

Don’t diminish the legacy and memory of six million Jews by equating it with modern politics.

Where are the gas chambers?
