Legacy media — the main left-leaning cable channels and the big three alphabet soup networks — can’t stand podcast juggernaut Joe Rogan, and his incredible popularity is only part of it.
But incredible it is — Rogan’s three-hour podcast boasts an audience in the double-digit millions — more than twice the audience of Fox News’ top-rated show “The Five,” and nearly ten times CNN’s average primetime audience.
So if it’s not about jealousy (and maybe it is a little bit), what is it about?
They don’t want Joe Rogan’s “misinformation” to interfere with theirs. They’re not afraid that Rogan is spreading bad information so much as they’re afraid he might accidentally spread the truth.
They say things like “he’s killing people” by having a conversation with someone CNN hasn’t “vetted” while trying to memory-hole the fact that CNN vetted — and promoted — Michael Avenatti (who Tucker Carlson so aptly named Creepy Porn Lawyer). They criticize Rogan for asking questions — and then admitting he was wrong — while conveniently forgetting how uncritical their coverage of disgraced New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was in the early stages of the pandemic.
I don’t agree with Joe Rogan on much — probably as much as I agree with CNN if I’m honest. But he’s willing to have honest conversations — and legacy media can’t stand that because it shines a light on how dishonest they are.
