Help those affected by the May 16th Tornado

Posted by NewsTalkSTL on May 19, 2025 in Featured, Local News | Leave a response

Those wishing to help our community by volunteering or donating are encouraged to use the following resources:

The Missouri State Emergency Management Association stresses that volunteers should not “self-deploy” and ask that volunteers sign up to avoid putting themselves in danger or causing interference through disorganization.

You can contact the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency by dialing 211 or (800) 427-4626. This information is also available at the 211 Missouri website.

The State Emergency Management Association 211 website also has ways to donate to those affected.

The United Way is asking people who want to donate to visit helpingpeople.org/stormrelief, and those wanting to volunteer to go to STLVolunteer.org.

The Salvation Army is responding to impacted neighborhoods in St. Louis with water, snacks and emotional and spiritual care. Visit salarmy.us/middisaster to donate to their efforts.

Convoy of Hope is responding with essential supplies — food, water, tarps, totes, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and more.

Do not approach downed power lines. Instead, call Ameren Missouri at 800-552-7583 to report them. Always assume power lines are live and dangerous and should be immediately reported.

Residents of St. Louis City can report storm damage to the Citizens’ Service Bureau.

The St Louis to Edwardsville tornado survey has concluded. It was an EF3 tornado with winds up to 152 mph. It tracked northeast through the city at 55 mph, expanding to 1 mile wide at times. It lifted near SIU-Edwardsville. Further analysis may determine one or more circulations. pic.twitter.com/XXAYvKGRBl
