A HAND GRENADE IN CONGRESS
As I post this at about 11:30 AM CT, the Battle over the Speaker of the House “might” be resolved … or not.
Even if a Speaker is selected. there is already collateral damage to the GOP & Conservative Cause. They are not necessarily: One and the Same.
First recognizing this “battle” is like someone dropped a grenade on the floor of the House and walked out. Some members will survive; some will be injured, but the Collateral Damage can not be dismissed.
Those against McCarthy have some solid points as do those supporting him.
It is proper to debate and test views & issues, but what we have here is recognized in “Cool Hand Luke”. In the 1967 movie, the Prison Warden (Strother Martin) tells Luke Jackson (Paul Newman): What we have here is a failure to communicate.
This failure of the Republican Party to make the most of controlling the House, serving as a check against the Democrat lead Senate is at the least, embarrassing. More importantly, it is beyond divisive, it is destroying the opportunity to show leadership.
Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise is willing to become House Majority Leader, but he’s an ally & friend of Congressman McCarthy. Scalise doesn’t want to challenge that relationship but has indicated that he would take the position …if McCarthy stepped aside.
That might happen, but like most politicians, McCarthy is unwilling to surrender what power he’s accumulated, and such sacrifice among politicians — even for the Greater Good of the Party — is like volunteering to be burned at the stake.
Aside from the Political Battle, in the House, nothing can really be done until a Speaker is elected. The members-elect can not be sworn in because the Speaker administer their Oath of Office.
No Members equals No Action to correct the Democrats’ Overreach and absurd spending.
Colorado Congresswoman Boebert has said, “Here we are being sworn at instead of being sworn in”.

Yes, Somebody dropped a hand grenade in the House, and no one is covering it with their body to save others or the promise that Republicans/Conservatives would restore order after the Democrat Chaos.
Pelosi is probably laughing so hard that she peed in her pants.
