Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) laid into Whoopi Goldberg on Tuesday after she joked that she couldn’t tell him apart from Senator Rick Scott (R-FL).
Goldberg made the comments during a segment of the ABC midday talk show “The View,” suggesting that because they were both Republicans, she couldn’t really differentiate between Tim Scott — who is black — and Rick Scott, who is not.
“We do deserve to have two strong parties,” Goldberg said during a discussion on Tuesday’s broadcast about former Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC) announcing a 2024 presidential bid. “So, you know, Tim Scott, black Tim Scott, right? Because there are two Scotts and I don’t know how to differentiate them without a picture.”
